Ku-ring-gai Avenue, Turramurra 10.00am-2.00pm
Knox Garden Day started in 1959 and is the only fundraising activity of the KPA Senior Social Committee each year. It is a day when families in a particular area of the north shore open their private gardens for inspection for a four-hour period one Friday in spring. The gardens are often diverse in age and style and are normally not open to the public.
To add to the occasion, string quartets of students play in the gardens and the Knox Pipe Band performs. Most years, over 2,000 people from both Knox and the general community attend the event.
Local traffic flow is restricted to ensure a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the gardens. Music, gardens and shopping delights are the essence of the day! There are a number of exciting stalls located throughout the gardens and streets mostly stocked with goods made by Knox parents. These include the renowned Knox Craft and Gourmet Food stalls. In addition, a luncheon marquee operates, offering lovely delights for lunch or a snack. Don't forget to invite friends and relatives along to what is a glorious community day.
This year for Garden Day, we are closing off Ku-ring-gai Avenue, Turramurra, well known for its historically significant homes and their beautiful gardens. Come and enjoy an alfresco lunch in the marquee on a private tennis court. Stroll through beautiful spring gardens, then browse the traditional Knox Craft, Gourmet, Bakery and Greenery stalls.
A selection of market stalls selling a range of products including homewares, jewellery, handmade hats and bags and much more will also be available. Several small ensembles will play music within the gardens and there will be the traditional performance of the Knox Pipe Band.
Garden Day is located a five-minute walk from Turramurra station. A shuttle bus will also operate from Turramurra station to take you to Garden Day. Entry tickets will be available at four locations - Ku-ring-gai Avenue (Pacific Highway end), Boomerang Street, Womerah Street and Wonga Wonga Street. The open gardens are truly representative of the area, being well established and beautifully maintained by avid gardeners.
A single entry fee is charged for the inspection of all gardens. Entrance fee: $15.00 Concession: $10.00
Please note, neither strollers nor photography are permitted in the gardens. Flat walking shoes are recommended. Complimentary holding bay facilities are available. Bottled water will be available for purchase at entry points. Toilet facilities are available.
